Editorial Standards

Last updated: June 2026. This page explains how XTapDown produces editorial content, where AI is used, how we attribute sources, and how to flag errors.

Our Editorial Mission

XTapDown publishes practical resources and editorial analysis for X (Twitter) creators. Everything we publish should pass one test: does this help a creator make a better decision today? If a piece of content doesn't clear that bar, we don't publish it.

How We Source News

Our news roundups draw from publicly available RSS feeds of established industry publications focused on X, the creator economy, and social media strategy β€” including Social Media Today, Search Engine Journal, Hootsuite, Later, Influencer Marketing Hub, Marketing Brew, TechCrunch, and primary sources like X's own developer and business blogs.

We do not paraphrase or republish source articles. We read, analyze, and write original editorial commentary based on the underlying facts. Every story is attributed with a direct link to the source. Readers who want the full original reporting are encouraged to follow the links.

How AI Is Used

We use large language models as a drafting and analysis tool. Every news roundup goes through an editorial pipeline that:

  • Selects stories from quality publications matching our topic focus (X / creator economy)
  • Deduplicates against the last 60 days of coverage
  • Generates editorial analysis with specific quality constraints (no paraphrasing, source attribution required, original framing mandatory)
  • Validates against quality gates before publishing (word count minimums, attribution presence, internal link minimums, banned-phrase detection)
  • Pairs every long-form piece with internal links to relevant tool pages, so analysis stays connected to actionable workflows

Posts produced through this pipeline are clearly part of our News and Blog sections. We don't hide that AI is involved in drafting β€” we're honest that this is a technology-assisted editorial workflow, not human-only journalism. Editorial angle, sourcing decisions, and conclusions are human-defined; AI accelerates research synthesis and first drafts within that frame.

What We Won't Do

  • We don't paraphrase source articles. Our analysis is original commentary on facts, not rewordings of someone else's reporting.
  • We don't reproduce source images. Images are sourced from Unsplash with proper credit, or we generate our own visuals.
  • We don't hide attribution. Every story we discuss links back to the original.
  • We don't fabricate quotes or statistics. If a number appears in our analysis, it's either from a named source or clearly framed as an analyst estimate.
  • We don't publish for the sake of volume. If there isn't enough quality X-related news on a given day, the system skips publication. We'd rather publish 3 strong roundups a week than 7 weak ones.
  • We don't use trend-jacking hashtags off-topic. We use topic tags that match the content, not whatever's trending in the moment.

Corrections Policy

If you spot a factual error, attribution problem, or quality issue, please email legal@xtapdown.com with the URL and the issue. We aim to correct verified errors within 24 hours and note significant corrections at the top of the affected post. Trivial fixes (typos, formatting) are made silently; substantive corrections (facts, attribution, interpretation) are disclosed.

Our Tools and Calculators

Pages like our X engagement rate calculator, Ads Revenue Share calculator, hashtag library, best-time-to-post data, hook library, and viral tweet finder are built from publicly available data, our own research, and industry-standard formulas. Benchmarks (e.g. engagement rate tiers, posting-window heuristics) are drawn from multiple published industry reports β€” RivalIQ, Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Social Insider β€” and cited where specific figures are quoted.

X-specific mechanics (the 25M-impression eligibility floor, the reply-based ads revenue share model, bookmark-rate weighting in For You) are drawn from X's own creator monetization documentation and help center.

Affiliate and Commercial Relationships

We currently have no paid affiliate relationships with the tools or platforms we discuss. XTapDown is part of the TapDown family of creator toolkits, alongside TikTapDown. Should we add affiliate links or sponsored content in the future, they will be clearly disclosed at the top of any post that includes them.
