X (Twitter) Video Downloader — FAQ
How do I download an X (Twitter) video?+
Copy the post URL from X by tapping "Share" → "Copy Link" in the X app, or grabbing the full URL from your browser address bar. Paste it into the box above and click Download. Once the video info appears, click the resolution you want (HD by default) and the MP4 saves directly to your device.
Is XTapDown free to use?+
Yes, completely free. No account, no subscription, no hidden fees, no daily limits. Download as many X videos, GIFs and images as you want.
Does it work on iPhone?+
Yes. Open Safari on your iPhone, go to xtapdown.com, paste the X post link and tap Download. The MP4 saves to the Files app under Downloads (Safari shows a download icon in the address bar — tap it to jump straight there). To move it to Photos: open Files → long-press the MP4 → Share → Save Video. No app install required.
Does it work on Android?+
Yes. Open Chrome or any browser on your Android device, paste the X link and tap Download. The MP4 saves to your Downloads folder or Gallery.
What video quality is available?+
XTapDown fetches the original video quality from X — typically 720p or 1080p HD depending on what the uploader posted. The file is a clean MP4 with no overlays or watermarks.
Can I download GIFs and image tweets too?+
Yes. For GIFs, paste the tweet URL and you'll get both an MP4 (X stores GIFs as MP4) and an animated GIF version. For multi-image tweets, all images are bundled in a ZIP archive.
Can I download X videos on PC?+
Yes. Open any browser on your Windows or Mac, visit xtapdown.com, paste the X link and click Download. The MP4 saves directly to your Downloads folder.
Does the downloader work for both twitter.com and x.com URLs?+
Yes. Both twitter.com and x.com links work, as well as shortened t.co URLs. Just paste the link as-is and XTapDown handles the rest.
I pasted the first tweet of a thread — why did I only get one video?+
X does not expose a free API for descendant tweets, so we walk the chain upward from the URL you paste. If you paste tweet 1 of a 10-tweet thread, you get 1 video. To bundle every video in the thread, paste the URL of the LAST tweet in the chain — we then walk upward to the root and package all videos (and any images) into a single ZIP file. Open the thread on X, scroll all the way to the bottom, click the timestamp of the final tweet, and copy that URL.
